Location: UK-based (remote with occasional travel to Colchester & client sites)

The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a well-established, high-growth insurance business specialising in auxiliary products and personal lines, now entering an exciting phase of expansion.

This is a senior, revenue-owning role where you’ll take full control of new business strategy and play a key part in scaling the organisation’s commercial success.

The Role

As Head of Business Development, you’ll own the end-to-end new business function, from shaping strategy through to hands-on delivery and team leadership.


This is a player-manager role - you’ll set direction, but also be actively involved in building pipeline and closing deals.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and executing the new business strategy aligned to ambitious growth targets

  • Driving revenue across insurance and ancillary product lines

  • Personally generating and converting pipeline — prospecting, pitching, closing

  • Leading, coaching, and scaling a high-performing BD team

  • Building strong partnerships across insurers, MGAs, brokers, and affinity channels


About You

  • Proven success in B2B insurance sales, ideally within auxiliary or personal lines

  • Strong knowledge of insurance distribution models and partnerships

  • Track record of exceeding sales targets individually and through a team

  • Commercially sharp with a proactive, deal-focused mindset

  • Confident in outbound business development and closing high-value deals

  • Experienced leader who can motivate and drive performance
