We’re partnering with a well-funded, innovation-led InsurTech that is transforming traditional insurance workflows into powerful, automated experiences through AI-powered SaaS platforms.
As Director of Engineering, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling their technical infrastructure, leading cross-functional teams, and shaping the architectural strategy of several key product lines. You’ll work at the intersection of tech, product, and design with a clear mandate to drive velocity, quality, and innovation.
This role is ideal for a senior leader who has moved from hands-on engineering into management and thrives on balancing product delivery with team culture.
🌐 Key Responsibilities:
Lead 4 agile squads (~25 engineers) across backend, frontend, and DevOps
Manage tech leads, mentor engineers, and oversee delivery managers
Define and evangelise the engineering strategy, tooling, and architecture
Collaborate with Product and UX teams to prioritise high-impact initiatives
Oversee technical planning, sprint execution, and release cycles
Implement strong engineering standards, CI/CD, and scalable code practices
Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and cross-functional alignment
Shape recruitment plans and future technical hiring
✅ Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience as a Director, Head of Engineering, or Senior Engineering Manager
Track record leading cross-functional SaaS product teams
Deep knowledge of modern web architecture (cloud-native, APIs, microservices)
Background in AI, data platforms, or insurance tech is a strong advantage
Comfortable working in a hybrid team setup
Experience balancing short-term delivery with long-term tech vision
Passionate about coaching teams, enabling autonomy, and reducing friction
